How much does a session cost?
A 1 hr consultation is usually £60.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people get what they need from one session. For others, it’s
more like peeling the layers off an onion. Each session is individual
and is tailored to your specific needs. There is no obligation to take
a ‘course’ of sessions. The focus for every session is to
move you forward at the pace appropriate to you.
Do you do telephone sessions?
Although seeing a client in person enables me to gain a fuller knowledge
of them and is therefore beneficial, there may be problems re distance
or personal circumstance which make it difficult to do this. Under these
conditions I am happy to do telephone sessions.
Do you also see couples or families?
I generally work one-to-one, but I do see couples if it feels appropriate
to do so, and also children.
Are there any ‘conditions’ you don’t
feel you can help with?
Whilst many people with conditions such as anxiety and depression do
derive benefit from what I offer, people who are experiencing psychotic
conditions such as schizophrenia, personality disorder, bipolar disorder
and psychosis would be more appropriately treated by their psychiatric
What happens within a consultation?
Initially I will take a detailed history to discover more about the
presenting problem. Then we will explore together what needs to change
and how to achieve that. Much of the work can be done through conversation.
Occasionally there may be exercises to walk through but these will not
be physically demanding.
How confidential is the information I tell you?
Any personal information you share will not be divulged to any third
party without your specific consent.
I’m already taking anti-depressants. Does
this mean that I shouldn’t attend sessions with you?
Not necessarily; there is still work that we can do together.
Do I need to be referred by my GP?
There is no need to contact your GP to see me; you can simply contact
me to arrange an appointment.
I have private medical insurance; would that cover
me for treatment with you?
Whilst I hold the appropriate insurances, my treatments are not covered
by private medical insurance.
Do you offer home visits?
I find that it’s in the clients’ best interests for sessions
to be held in a neutral environment, away from distractions and possible
negative energies that are sometimes associated with home.
What if I can't make the appointment?
If you are unable to keep your appointment and less than 24 hours notice
is given, there will be a cancellation charge of 50%.
Do you guarantee to cure me?
There are no guarantees, but I will use my skills in the best ways possible
to help you uncover your own resources and solutions.
What should I bring to the session?
A pen and notebook is often useful. However, the most important thing
you can bring is an open-minded attitude of curiosity and a willingness
